Groundhog day: Six more weeks of winter!
Will there be six more weeks of mystery?
Who removed the City Council videos? Still a mystery.
Six Months YouTube videos of city council meetings were removed on August 1, 2022
New Policy The policy removing the council meetings and no longer recording public comments was adopted on September 6, 2022.
Where is the Policy? There is no record of the policy in the meeting minutes for September 6, 2022. Those minutes were approved on November 21. 2022 (and posted later).
Three questions remain:
1. Who made the original decision to remove the videos (August 1)? Bracato and Lyda deny this. Four council members say they did not know about the removal in advance. Jason Cope refers the question to the information officer and then to the City Attorney. (Hoover Sun Oct. 25, 2022) Clearly, someone knows and this should be made public.
2. Where is the policy as it is not mentioned in the minutes nor included in the packet of Sept 6, 2022? Is the council allowed to approve policy outside of council meetings; it seems not according to the Council Meeting Procedures. The policy should be made public and adopted according to accepted procedures.
3. Work sessions are no longer on YouTube or streamed, why? Who made that decision? Is this covered under a new policy? If so, where is that policy? Either a copy of the policy regarding work sessions or an explanation should be made public.
